KENNELNEWS SEASON 04-05
Older kennelupdates

2/12 Put out a picturepage of some trainingshots from yesterday...after the run it started to icerain and everything was glazed. But luckily its not turned into mild weather yet. It was beautiful in the forest with rime on the trees. The adults ran 42 the youngsters 10kmtrs. Not allways time to be out as long as one should like!  Life is other things than dogtraining too for most of us.
19/12 Larkas pups was 14 days friday. They have now got their own page up... Larkas pups here

19/12 Today it snowed about 6-7 cmtrs, and we had a nice 25kmtr run in Hurdal with the a-team + Noia,  and Ronny in the sled. The layer of fresh snow was needed to cover up the icy trail, so today it was a silent and wonderful run. Its forcasted cold weather all week so there will be more sledding even though its a busy week, Had som dogs limping but seems like everyone is fine now. There are 3 females in heat though so boys are a bit stressed- Log is 720 kmtrs hope to get some longer runs on them  during christmas/new year.
13/12 Its still kind of wintery down here even though trails mostly are icy and the forestroads even more so. We have been out on the sleds 5 days since last wednesday. I had a couple of very nice nightruns, the best night with moonlight, snowcrystals glittering like thousands of diamonds, 8below c cand dogs ruinning very well....Next day it was of course raining...One learns to apreciate things one took for granted...all the depressing talk about glovbal warming makes a sleddrun in good snow and cold weather feel like luxury.
Iver is not as fast as he used to be so Carlos is main leader now together with Yin. We have to do some work on comands,  I must drive him more with Noia to learn, since Yins thing is speed, not comands. She is hopeless when it comes to comands since she is so stubborn!
Ravn will have some learningrounds with Noia too since he is sailing up as a leader for next year. I had reasonable comandleaders for the last 13 years so its  a new situation not allways to get where I want without anchering up...
But we are working on it!.

8/12 Hoooray! Winter has arrived! Down here too.  One never knows how long it will stay,so off to the woods we go wether one has other things to do or not.... The runs yesterday and today was not longer than 18kmtrs but with two persons on a 9 dog team, with partly trailbraking in 30 cm snow that was enough. Up in the hills of Holter it was much more snow than down here.
Today I ran two 6-dogteams, since I dislike running larger teams when there is no anchorhold. Hope for some longer runs one of these days though  Traininglog is now 600kmtrs.
Larkas puppies are doing fine. I will keep two myself and the other two are spoken for.

6/12 We spent half the weekend at Øvre Åstabru, a place 160kmtrs from here where there is early snow.
It was many people there training at the aprox 35 cmtrs of snow. Nice to see real winter again, even though it was no hold for snowhook and brake....The a-team had a 20km run saturday night and 32km at sunday, the youngsters had 20kmtr runs.

It has snowed little by little down here too, so its starting to look like winter. Not enough snow in the terrain but on unplowed forestroads its possible to use sleds.

6/12 Larka got 4 nice, energetic even pups last week. 3 females and a male, all greys. They came out fast and are doing fine:)

29/11-05  Winter! Only thing missing is 15cm of snow. But at least its nice with some trainingruns in 10 below and without muddy dogs! And good for  dogs feet to run on fresh snow for a change even if it is in front of a wheicle.
We are now training 26 km, thats the longest strech possible to train on the back and forth road on Holter Luckily its a turningpoint up in the hills, but here its to steep to go down if the ice comes. Total training is 470km.
Here are some pics fromtraining tonight
Hmmm this rabid looking animal is sweet pretty Marja

19/11 Noia (Nuch Nay-La-Chees Cool Running Kenoia) was 10 years recently and today we tried to take a familypicture of Noia with 3 generations after her, Iver, Larka and Kylo. Well to make 4 dogs sit beside me in chronologic row? Forget it. Noia was pissed pretty soon with ears wide and flat and a grumpy mouth:) She dislike to be told where to sit. Iver too.

Noia, Kylo, Larka and Iver

13/11 The snow was a tease...been raining constantly now, with high temperatures. and mostly very humid air. So the dream of an early winter dissappeared for a while. Not very pleasent  not to be able to open ONE snap cause they are full of sand, to load 14 wet, muddy dogs on every trainingrun...But the dogs wag their tails anyhow....they work well and training proceeds ok. But my car smell very bad. Frontpage of newspaper the other day: "Stack away the skiis, put out the umbrella...and wait for a recordwarm wet winter...." YAAACK!
28/10 First time on the sled last night! With two 6-dog teams. 1 month earlier than last year, two weeks earlier than 2003.
But it was only that one run, today its +10 celsius so the touch of winter is gone. But its allways neat with an early sledrun.
We have about 240 kmtrs now and the longest run was 21kmtrs Not very impressing, but quality of training was better than in a long time and I am very happy with the dogs so far..
I just hope for icefree roads next days since I am off from nightshift.

27/10 Larka is 1 month pregnant with Troy.  Puppies expected in beginning of desember.
See Current Litters for info

27/10-05 Training is going good, mostly with two persons on the Dyckcart so they have some load to pull
But now comes the period where everything suddenly can turn into ice and make things difficult...First snow has arrived, some 15cmters in the hills! Thats 3 weeks earlier than last year but it will soon melt since is forcasted 12degrees:( Also visited Chicki in DalaFloda, Sweden some weekends ago and trained on the nice sandy roads there. I envi her those roads!

7/9 Training is proceeding well now, I am all inspired  for a descent  raceseason. I will participate in the amount of middledistanceraces time (I work every 3. weekend and its hard to swap the weekends that crash with races) and economy allows. Like everyone I hope for good snow so one does`nt have to travel so far to find it, gasprize is recordhigh again, between 10-11 krones pr liter.
Dogs trained for races this year is Hexa Yin, Iver, Carlos Lead,  Lømmel, Isi, Vadim Troy and Ivanka teamdogs. Noia and Djerva are retired and leaders for the 4 youngsters, and Denali is to young to run.

NSHK had its fallcamp on Finnskogen last weekend, in terrible weather friday and saturday then nicer. Nice gravelroads to train on. There was the usual rigrace, but with few teams entered. Only a few seconds divided the 8-dogteams.
Here are some pictures from the weekend: Foto Kari Hope and Rikke

19/9 A partly stressfull weekend at the spescialityshow in Evertsberg is over. When one enter many dogs, it gets too little time to look at other dogs or speak to all the people one would like to speak more with. Saturday night we were all exhausted!
Luckily there was sunny weather when the Luxmoores judged 150 siberians. Whilst 150 is a common entry in british championshipshows, this the largest group of the breed gathered in Sweden for a very long time. There were much 2. prizes given out espescially in the female classes,
Big winner this weekend was kennel Vargevass who won most groups. BIR (BOB) was the father of Hexas litter this summer, Sujozov of Vargevass  Congratulations to Karsten!
The results of my kennel was:
Nay-La-Chee `s Cry Wolf Vadim  1AK  CK and nr 3. BHK (male winner class) out of 75 dogs
Nay-La-Chee`s Troyka River got 1JK  CK and was nr 2 in the juniorclass out of 15 dogs
Nay-La-Chee`s Cool Rascal Ravn got 1JK
Nay-La-Chee`s Cool Rascal Marja got 1JK
Nuch Nay-La-Chee`s Cool Running Kenoia got HP and was nr 2 in veteranclass
Nay-La-Chee kennel got HP (honorary prize) in Breeders class  9 breeders had enough entries to participate,
4 got HP .
NLC Cool Rascal Smilla, NLC Chill Out Misty NLC Aussie Possum all got 2. prize
NLC Hexov Runner were nr 2 out of 6 male pups
Narrow Trail Yin was entered but I didnt get time to show here because I was busy in the male ring.

Thanks to Chicki, Frank and Nina for handlinghelp!

14/9 Some eyeresults: Lure Larka and Nay-La-Chee`s Cry Wolf Vadim was eyechequed and gonioscoped clear today.
14/9 We are preparing to go to the Siberian spesciality at Evertsberg. Allways a lot to do in the last minute when one leave house and dogs to kennelsitter....and still I have 6 dogs to wash...Sheila and  Simon Luxmoore from England has 150 dogs to judge so that will be interesting. And a lot of stress, but I am looking forward to meet siberianpeople from our neighbour countries.
6/9 Shownews: Nay-La-Chee `s Cool N Rude Wolf belonging to kennel Ateb in Denmark became danish champion! this weekend. I dont think there are many racingline dogs that made their championship later years. Wolf also runs on Atebs  8-dog raceteam. He is eyechequed/hd chequed clear
Congratulations to Gert and Birthe!

In Sweden Chicki is showing my showlinedogs which she co ownes with me.Nuch Nordviks Road for Glory has recently won  BIR and Cacib
Nay-La-Chee `s Aussi Possum took BIM and got his first Cert and Cacib at his first show at Skk international show Högbo. Judge was Anders Cederstrøm
Possum at his first show.
4/9 We have some sad days her after we realized the shocking fact that Dilla`s steadily growing belly not contained pups but  ascites. She had to be put down today since there was no hope according to vets. The big belly made  it difficult for her to eat and breath. X-ray and ultrasound didn`t reveal too much because of all the fluid, but at least liver, hearth and kidneys were normal.
Orthopsy will reveal what caused this..She had lost a lot of weight but its not more than a week since she was playing full speed with her Ravn and Marja.
Dilla was  the happiest, most talkative and tailwagging siberian I ever had. Her dark mischiveus face and happy woo-wooing  will be deeply missed in the dogyard. Must bring unluck to be named Dilla, the only other young dog I had to put down were Dilla 1 who tore her tongue severely.
Dilla playing less than 3 weeks ago

24/8-05
Suddenly the summer is almost over.and dogtraining-time is coming closer!
As usuall its troublesome here before the sheep are taken inside in end of september. I dislike loading siberians with sheep all around. It takes a lot of travelling to find roads that is usable, bur we will take an expedition one of these days to look for gravelroads.

For the first time the dogs had some  *pre-training* here from the beginning of july due to cool weather and the fact that I FINALLY got around to fix  the saccocart. I had it for years but didnt use it. I think its enough with two dogs at the time.( Dont know how people have the nerves to drive 4-7 dogs on such carts...)
I go 3 minutes down the road where there is a gravel countryroad 4kmtrs roundtrip, and go with 3 x2dog teams each time so everyone gets out once or twice a week:
Quite fun really now that everyone has gotten acoustomed to the rods . And nice training on standing still, left and right and shut up during hook up:) Good physical training too since they have to pull some load.(ME)
I am determined that the new generations of dogs will have some more obidiencetraining than the middleaged ones have.
The 4 youngsters are now accustomed to sit before they get their food and NOT touch it until they are allowed. Soon I will try to make them sit before they are allowed out of the car, I have enough canonballs allreaddy...

27/7-05 Nay-La-Chee s Nomi is bred to Isslottets Ronni. 1/ 9: Nomi is empty too
24/7 Been a while, holiday is over and we are starting to look forward to fall and winter.
My boyfriend Ronny are getting more and more interested in the dogs and are a great help at the kennel.
Here is Isi and Ronny at the mouintans this holiday.

Hexas pups have long time left, I kept a female called Denali. The plan was to keep two but since I got
River it was only one to keep the dognumber down. Dogs are all without coat and look forward to their daily run in the exercisingpen. Iver has gotten ballcrazy at his older days and await his 5 minutes of football everyday:)
Here are the yard in summerclothes.

Finally got to try the 4 youngsters in harness, they are 8 months now. Everything went well, and they all got the point pretty quick, espescially River....

   Denali playing with mum
23/6 I recently got the white boy  River, Kylos brother, as a present from the italians that purchased him but never got to bring him home.
He has stayed here since he was puppy.  Im looking forward to try the big  puppies in harness soon.

Hexas pups are soon 8 weeks, they are leaving within next week.

27/5 New pics of Hexas pups 6, 5  weeks old

22/5 It was time for NSHKs Spesciality again, judge was Per Nymark. There was 10 puppies and 43 adult dogs entered
Nay-La-Chee s Cool Rascal Marja was BIR (BOB) puppy
Nay-La-Chee s Kaylo Troyka was 2. best male puppy
Nuch Nay-La-Chee `s Cool Running Kenoia was nr 1 veteran, nr 2 championfemale with CK  and  2.BTK (2. Winner female)
Arctic Soul Utu co-owned with Kari Hope was 3.BTK (3.Winner female) with Cert since 1.-2  female was champions
Nay-La-Chee `s Cool n Rude Dilla got CK and was nr 3. Open female and  reserve BTK (reserve  Winner female)
Nay-La-Chee `s Cry Wolf Vadim got CK and was 2. Open male and nr  4 BHK (4.Winner male.)
Nay-La-Chee got 1 prize/ Hederspremie i Oppdrett (Breederaward) and the
group was Vadim, Dilla, Noia and Chill Out Balto (who was reserve  Winner male)
That was the 4. Breedersaward in a row at NSHK Spesciality.

4/5 Spring is in the air! Lazy days for the dogs, while I allways have some repairjobs to do in the kennel. Spring is early like last year and I enjoy gardenwork too. Puppies are doing fine. I will keep a number of pups this year since the teammembers are getting  older. There are none left here of the generation of 3 years that I kept, since they all grew too small and shortlegged. There was a giardiainfestation here that year and its rare in Norway so the pups had diahrrea for long periods before we found out what was wrong. This may have caused the unnromal small sizes.
Here are some pics of the dogs enjoying their daily run in the exercizingpen

1/4 Hex had 6 nice puppies last night, 2 females and 4 males. Not the dirtyfaces I expected, but  3 darkgrey splashcoats, two greys and one agouti Thanks to Hanne for delivering them when I was at work.  Pictures

30/4 Attended NPHKs spesciality witch include siberians (16 entries)
Nay-La-Chee `s Cry Wolf Vadim got his second CERT and was BIM (BOS)
Lure Larka didnt at all behave (jumping vacuumcleaner...hmm why do I never get out to showtrain before last minute...) but got CK and 3 winner female
Nay-La-Chee`s Cool Rascal Marja was BIR puppy and 3 BIS puppy

5/4-05 Last runs....

The season  was ended with a trip with the whole kennel to Anne and Kjells cabin near the dogtrail in Gausdal in beautiful, but for the dogs, warm weather. It was releaving with a nice finish on the in general misserable winter. The puppies are getting very accustomed to traveling and behave very well
But a bit sad to store away sleds and equipment....

1/4 Stayed home in easter but had some beautiful last run in the dogtrails in Romeriksåsen  before snow melted.
A snowfall in middle of march made the conditions better than it has been all winter.

And it was so hot that the dogs managed to  relax while we had a fire....
Now Im off to Gausdal for the seasons last sledding:

1/4-05 Nay-La-Chee`s Narrow Trail Yin is bred to Isslottets Isak (Kasper av Vargevass x Isslottets Trixie) More info later

19/3-05
Went to a one-day trainingrace at Hamar last sunday, Nybøsjøen Trail 35 km. Nice trainingrun, heavy for dogs to run like in potato flour.6 entered 8-dogclass, . I was nr 4, ahead of Erik Greger and Roy Tømmerås.with siberians also.
Results: www.sleddog.no

8/3 Long time since I raced in Sweden, so it was nice to enter Huskydraget last weekend. Almost like a sprintrace, 2 x 30 km on very flat terrain.
I ran  in open class with 8 dogs, H Ebert 8, Manfred Witchel 10 and Anne Liese Witchel  7. Fun to have the germans behind me on a resultlist: for once!. Team was Iver and Yin in L, Vadim, Lømmel, Isi , Ivanka, Carlos and Troy

Results here

28/2-05  Nay-La-Chee`s Cool n Rude Hex are bred to Sujozov av Vargevass. Puppies expected end of april.
28/2 NSHK had its annual Winterrace on Femundtunet. It was great snowconditions and many participants. I brought all 21 dogs so its no holliday:) . Luckily my boyfriend is getting good at helping with the dogs and he had his first time driving a team up there. I participated in 8-dog sprint 18kmtrs and the class had 10 competitors. I was nr 5, the 4 first places were occupied by danes and swedes:) Team was Iver and Yin in lead, Vadim, Lømmel, Ivanka Isi, Troy and Carlos .Allways nice to meet people again but time passses too fast. Results

6/2-05 Had a couple of nice runs in Hurdal, where there was much more snow than here, still no anchorhold, but with Ronny in the sled  I can train all 11 at the time.
Today its all grey down here again and ground is bare. I hope to go away at next days off from nightshifts.
Here s a  couple pic from our last runs in Hurdal

In front Hex and Noia, Isi and Yin, Lømmel and Vadim, Iver and Carlos, Troy, Nikki and Ivanka
29/1 Tried the sled tonight on very little snow on the local road. No hold for anchor and hard to break so had to drive small teams. Dogs got the diahrrea that was around and has rested for a week, so first time out again yesterday.
Seems we have to enter sprintcalss on the NSHK race instead of middledistance. :(

22/1 The ground is finally white again, after the mildest january recorded down here. But its not enough to run dogs on, so nearest trail is Gåsbu, Hamar 110 km each way. Have tried to go there once a week now, late at night and stayed over so that I get two trainingrounds at one trip.. But I can shoot an arrow after a middle distance race season.
A pity since I havent racetrained properly for some seasons now and I was hoping for an ok race season this year.
Regular training has only been possible for people that can travel and stay away from home to train.Well, nothing one can do with the weather:
I have fun with the puppies and work with them. Will put out new pics soon.
And hopefully there will still be a lot of nice trips to places with snow Here is a pic from Gåsbu taken recently

9/1-05 Tried to train two nights ago, just glare ice with some gravel on where I usually train both with wheicle and sled. And the road was closed after 4 km due to ice. Not a distance one want to train in january....Trainingamount is still under 600km since there have been little increase in distances for a long while. Would have been nice to stay for a week somwhere with snow buts its impossible for me to manage. This is frustrating indeed.
6/1-05 Winter is still just hopeless down here. Snow came but melted again. Ice is back but its still possible to go out with small teams in the hills. I have been out on sled just a couple of times since november, the rest of training is short stretches, 11-14 km in front of car.

22/12 Winter seem to delay again. Hardly snow anywhere..... :(
22/12  New pics of Larkas pups  and  Dillas pups
Larkas pups is the nicest looking bunch of puppies I ever had, at least at this stage. They have very good proportions, angulations and type even in young age

15/12 Finally possible to train again since ice has melted down on forest roads.. Dogs has been off for 13days. No snow forcasted for a while. But good to be able to go out again.
11/12 What miserable weather....A mild weather melted the snow but left icy roads so my dogs hasn`t been trained for 9 days now. Better stay home than risk injuries on the slick roads
No snow is forcasted either and I have no possibility to go to the mouintans.,

5/12  They are a fun and sosciable gang and some rascals allreaddy  New Pics of Dillas pups here
The snow has melted now and its probably icy all over. What a pity now that training was good...
30/11-04  First time out with the sled this weekend at NSHKS trainingcamp in Syningen. Beautiful winter weather and good trails and a lot of people participating made it a nice weekend for both people and dogs!

Training run in the nice terrain of Syningen      My car and the handy stake out system made by Frank Guldberg
26/11  Larka delivered 5 large pups (she was extremely big but rest was water....) 2 silvergrey and a white male and one grey and one silvergrey  female. Pics will come soon. Father is Troy There is 1 female available in this litter. More pics here
24/11-04 Winter has arrived with a week of cold weather and snow. Didnt try the sled yet but are going to the mouinans this weekend. I am waiting for Larka to labour, she is very big now and will probably get 7 pups too....
Dillas pups are doing fine, there are two females available.

6/11-04  Dilla delivered 7 fine pups yesterday, one of the fastest and easiest labour I had here. There were 3 males and 4 females.Exept for a black clovermasked female and a grey clovermasked male, all are *dirtyfaces* similar to Dilla
Pics of Dillas pups here

3/11-04  Training dogs alone for the first time  since I injured ancle...have to let the dogs loose before and after hook up, since I cant hold on to them. Most of them are ok to let loose  fortunatly. I manage everything alone now but expect to have pain in the leg for quite a while.
Dilla is getting big, she is due end of this week. I forecast it will be at least 6-7 pups. Larka is starting to grow too.

25/10 Attended the only rig race I had time for this fall , arranged by two local sleddog clubs
Great fun with 45 teams, 20 of them 8 dog teams in wich I started. The route is 6 km.
Has never been that many entries before! The dogs did great and we were 11 out of 20 teams.Only one other siberian team, one malamute and one eskimodogteam.

What wasn`t so great is that I  slipped and fell on the outside party afterwards and injured an ancle. Luckily it wans`t broken but its painfull and I have to use one leg and crouches...not very convenient with kennel and 3 floor house, and the training has stopped til I am able to walk and drive a car again.

18/10 I have 12 mainstring dogs in training now, that is Iver, Yin, Isi, Vadim, Lømmel, Hexa, Troy, Nikki Attilla, Carlos, Noia and Ivanka. I dont get out more than 3 times a week, thats what I get time for and can afford. (gasprizes are at a new costpeak....)
18/10 Attended SPHKs spesciality in Kloten 9/10 judge was Erna Britt Nordin. Entered was NLC Cool `n Rude Carlos who was Best open male with CK and reserve winner male (beaten by 4 males from Working class which is a thing they have in Sweden but not in Norway) Arctic Souls Utu was 2. Winner female with CK and Lure Larka got 1. prize. Been a while since Ive visited Sweden, allways nice to meet  people again, besides it was fun with the high entries (19 males, 27 females)

Carlos and Rikke  in Kloten Foto: Sofia Ericsson

18/10  Dilla is definatly pregnant, puppies are due beginning of november.
Also pregnant is Lure Larka. She is bred to Nay-La-Chee`s Narrow Trail Troy and puppies are due middle of november

2/8 Nay-La-Chee`s Cry Wolf Xo (NLC Iver Glipp x NLC Svarte Ildico) , owned by Erik Meinhart  arrived today.
The plan is to breed him to Dilla, who is in heat now. She is not the easiest to breed though, since she prefers to lie on her back and whiggle her legs...
I have Xo `s  brother Vadim  but he seem  to have a more hyper temperament, while Xo is very calm and quiet.
Besides Xo is larger, better buildt and has a better coat than Vadim.
Xo has been kenneled here now and then and is such a pleasent boy to have around, he also works well in harness as a leaddog.

Xo in lead at Rørosløpet 04
